Buster DIP

Buster DIP Version -02 und -03

… dier ersten Buster-Versionen in DIP-Gehäuse für A2000 …

Buster is the expansion BUS conTrollER and was used in the Amiga 2000(B), integrating discrete logic from the original A2000(A). Buster controls bus arbitration and DMA for the Zorro II expansion subsystem.

These Buster chips are actually those that need a Buster Tower. The -01 version is based off the original PAL equations in the German A2000 - which drove the bus drivers incorrectly with DMA accesses. The -02 version is the definitive one that shipped with 99.9% of Amiga 2000s. So these (-01 versions) will likely not allow DMA cards to work unless someone had the very rare Buster Tower.

Dort schreibt Dave Haynie: „During pre-production testing at the Commodore plant in Taiwan, I discovered that wasn't the case with the German A2000, or my shiny new Buster chip – motherboard buffers fought with anything driving the expansion bus in this case. Whoops. In Germany, they fixed it with a new PAL. The Buster „tower“ fixed it here, until a corrected Buster chip could be produced.“

Rev.3 Buster ausgeliefert.

Buster -xx
